ABOUT

Matt and Karla

Matt and Karla have spent nearly thirty years traveling and living abroad at US Army, Department of Defense, and Embassy postings before quitting their day jobs, selling their properties, and giving everything they had to their children. They now live their dream, slow traveling as global nomads.

Matt is a reformed Army intelligence officer and diplomat paying his dues with freelance interviews and literary criticism while grinding it out as a crime and thriller writer. He was a 2021/2022 National Book Critics Circle Emerging Critic Fellow and holds an MFA in Fiction at the University of California at Riverside’s Palm Desert program in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts. His work has been featured or is forthcoming in the Insider, Canvas Rebel, Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Review, The Los Angeles Review of Books, The Coachella Review, Thought Catalog, Sein und Werden, and Pseudopod. Check out his writing portfolio at letswriting.com.

Karla was obsessed with the idea of traveling the globe growing up on the Panamanian Pacific Coast. She'd just completed the Merchant Marine Academy when love pulled her in another direction. She holds a bachelor's in human resources and has worked for the Department of Defense Education Activity and the US State Department. An artist at heart, Karla has done everything from cake decoration to mandalas.
